Central final round of the Chess Bundesliga from 13 to 17 October 2021 in Berlin
The German Chess Bundesliga returns to the board with main sponsor UKA on October 14, 2021 in Berlin!
In pre-digital chess times, the term “adjourned game” meant the short-term postponement of a chess game after the time control had been completed and its resumption after a few hours or on one of the following days. However, whole chess tournaments were not adjourned in history.
Only the Corona restrictions of 2020 forced organizers and promoters of chess events to “adjourned games” and required equally creative and sporting solutions. For the German Chess Bundesliga, the lockdown in March 2020, about halfway through the season, meant only a temporary halt to the team competition that began in the fall of 2019. The clubs of the Bundesliga are unanimous: The show must go on!
From October 14 to 17, 2021, the “adjourned games” from the 2019/2020 season will finally come to an end!
In good tradition, Schachfreunde Berlin 1903, in cooperation with Schachbundesliga e.V. and main sponsor UKA, will organize the remaining seven rounds of the interrupted season as part of a central Bundesliga final round in the German capital.
The venue is the Hotel Maritim proArte (Friedrichstraße 151 / Dorotheenstraße 65, 10117 Berlin) in a prime city location.
Thursday, October 14, 2021: 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Friday, October 15, 2021: 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Saturday, October 16, 2021: 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Sunday, October 17, 2021: 10 a.m.
Excitement is guaranteed right up to the last round: after the halfway point of the season, the two co-favorites for the championship title from Baden-Baden and Hockenheim have been going head-to-head so far and are tied at the top of the table without any losses. The showdown could come in the 14th round on October 16, 2021, when the two teams face each other directly. But exciting and high-caliber duels are also expected between the eight-player teams for the other places and the preservation of the class. Numerous national and international top players are expected on the boards, among them possibly also former chess world champions!
For spectators and supporters
All matches will be sponsored by UKA and will be commented by international chess masters and can be watched live via chess24.com and other internet platforms. Due to the currently valid Corona rules, spectator presence on site will unfortunately only be possible with considerable restrictions and under strict adherence to hygiene measures.
You can order tickets here.
